Once the capital of the region of Provence, the medieval village of Forcalquier
has retained all its rural authenticity boasting a 12th century cathedral beautiful winding roads and provincial squares and its 16th century windmill for pressing olive oil.
Sitting on
top of the hill on which Forcalquier is built is the Citadel – today, its
chapel built in honour of Our Lady of Provence overlooks the town’s
inhabitants. Beside the chapel is something of a curiosity - the
traditional church bell. This bell is rung every Sunday morning at about
11.30 by the local bell ringer allowing everybody to profit from its
traditionals and “provencales” melodies. this lovely town and to discover the picturesque regions
of the Lubéron and Haute Provence. of environment – passive solar architecture, so that despite being very modern, the building also fits perfectly into the marvellous scenery, and so that it would be as luminous as possible, sitting in a South facing location.
or if you prefer the sun, on the teak decking beside the pool. And when you tire of all that lounging around, you can take a dip in the blue lagoon water of the swimming pool (which is cleaned using a biological UV treatment – no chlorine).
